Henry Leon | The Neighborhood Village Manager

Henry Leon, Salt + Light's The Neighborhood Village Manager, has been on the Salt + Light team since April 2021. Henry has worked alongside people experiencing homelessness and addiction for 11 years.

His experience, insight and perspective have been invaluable resources as we have continued to expand the now 4-day-a-week food and palliative relief outreach, Everyone Eats Today. Under his care and direction, Salt + Light has quickly become positioned in Tulare County as a strong relational conduit between the neighbors who are experiencing homelessness and the community at large. Henry has said that he believes our truck is "Love on Wheels,” and that is evident because he has made that motto his mission.

One of Henry's gifts is how well he demonstrates to our volunteers and employees that consistently showing up for our neighbors matters. While his job is to manage an outreach that feeds approximately 1275 meals a week, Henry is committed to individually loving each neighbor; knowing their name, their needs, and their favorite meal. He once received a tearful standing ovation and round of applause because he made good on his promise to deliver steak and eggs to an entire encampment.

He is fun to joke and laugh with, and sometimes when he is dishing out, we don't know if he is serious or just delivering some of his classic deadpan humor. We wait for his signature giggle to find out. To know Henry is to love him, and we are so grateful for his heart and the soul he brings to Salt + Light.

Fun fact: Henry doesn’t like vegetables

Food: Hamburger with Bacon

Drink: Milkshakes
